What is a cake smash?

A cake smash is exactly what it sounds like.  Which seems like a crazy idea, to give your baby a whole cake to themselves!  But yes, we give baby a beautifully baked cake and let them explore the taste, feel, texture – just like messy play really.

Quite often it will be their first try of something sweet, so it can get really animated when they discover the beautiful taste of cake.  They can be really messy, and some not so much.  Either way, its a really fun way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday.

What’s the point?!

Some people will ask whats the point?! Or some will say they don’t get it.

It’s because you haven’t done it yet.

It’s a really fun, memorable experience that the whole family can get involved in. As with all of my sessions, I offer some family and sibling portraits at the start. So big brother/sister can get stuck in a help a little too if they would like. There is always plenty of cake to go around!

You’ll walk away with some beautiful photographs and amazing memories of your baby’s special day. After all, your baby is unlikely to have a birthday at wish list..so give them the gift of memories.

When should we do it?

This is a pretty obvious one – around your baby’s first birthday of course!

You can schedule your session for the day of your baby’s birthday if you like.

Most people tend to book a few weeks ahead of the big day though as we can then have their images ready to display at their party or for you to share on the day they turn one.

What is a cake smash going to cost me?

Your ake smash session will cost £49 on a weekday, or £99 on a weekend. This session fee includes your cake, all your time in the studio (approx 1-1.5 hours)and the production of your final images.

You’ll be invited back to the studio 5-10 later to view and order your images.

I have two package options available for cake smashes, but most tend to go for the Maxi option to eliminate the need to discard images.
